i'm back ! Back in the saddle again ! I couldn't resist it I tell ya . I am in love with the outdoors and have been totally consumed with hunting season and our little ranch we bought .my leased land is so full of game this year it defies the imagination and the ranch is hopping as well .
That all said the recent torrential rainfalls and messed up fall patterns have held me at bay ,until today on the crappie ketchn .I have visited this spot a few times this year to find everything a mess , the creek roaring 3 foot high and the cover all moved around . to much current to fish from the bank and just flat tough to fish for a crappie .
Well it had to happen sooner or later and I knew when the water slowed up and dropped they would be waiting for me and my lil float rig .Sure enough 2 foot under a float was magic and the float went bye bye over and over . man do I love this style of crappie ketchn .around 4 fow was the ticket and they only seemed to be in 2 of my favorite spots out of 4 .
I was testing slime line ,slab sauce and a new batch of thermocline lures lil fry plastics today . All seemed to be up to the task quite well and the drag pulled and fish fought and the photos came in between .
KABOOM is the word and today was gun slinging with my lil Shakespere
stay tuned old man winter is here in Texas
hope you enjoy the read and photos .

Very nice, glad you got back in the saddle.
Why do you think only 2 of 4 spots?
Structure changed?

Love it. Glad your back at it, the crappie been missing you.
sometimes tough to go away from the deer/hog hunting or whatever is in season to get back to the basics of who we are. Had my boys up for deer hunting but the crappie were biting so tough to break away from hosting to dip a jig! WTG Outlaw ripnlips is always fun!
Well, on the bright side, it's fortunate for me that my legs won't permit my age-long passion for bird & deer hunting. So now my time is focused solely on crappie fishing! But, again, on the down side, an early winter cold & snow here will probably not allow me to wet a line again until March! LOL! Hey, it is what it is. I love your posts and they'll keep me going through the cold months ahead. Thanks!

Glad to see you back on the business end of a fishin pole. Lots of cold rain here, lakes came up 5ft this week and I have been sick as a dog from last weekend. Our Rifle season starts Saturday and if this cough does not subside I will be on the inside looking out. Good catch sir!!

Yep—we hit the lease since the water was still overflowing. Son shot a nice 10 point. Heading back after Thanksgiving to shoot our favorite venison, Axis. Heading to Lake Austin tomorrow. We will see what has changed.
