I was wondering what everybody thought this cold spell will do to the crappie that were spawning or getting ready to spawn. Water temp here is 69 to 70 but we have had few fish caught in the brush so far.

It has knocked it dead here at LOZ.
Water temp had approached 70 degrees in places, was catching spawning fish on the banks just several days ago. Day before yesterday after the winds and the cooler nights water temperature where I fish was 55 degrees. The winds mixed all of the subsurface cold water with the warmer surface water and voila....55 degrees water, so the females are not happy and the frisky males got doused with cold water, so their fun will have to wait..
and so will ours I am afraid.
the trick to catch that finnicky speck....
gently set the hook just before the peck
They are still there. Probably buried up in those sweet little persimmon condos located in the deeper water. But then again, they may suspend.
After the weather stabilizes, they should be good this weekend. Stable weather is the key...
They ll move out to deep water for a little while and they ll be back
FISH-ON!!!!!
Try the first deep water strait out away from the spawn bank. They cold conditions will push them back there. Look for any cover close by in that deeper water. That will hold them. CF
