Bring one to D'arbonne and let me try it.
Does anyone here use this type of real? If so, pros and cons?

I think quite a few guys do on jig poles. I've never used one tho so no input
I thought about trying the Eagle Claw ice reel and seeing how it works. I like the large handles on those reels. I just never pulled the trigger on one. Should work great on a jigging pole.
I've have two eagle claw reels for ice fishing, and really like them. They are designed for fishing through a hole, the free spool allows for a quick drop straight down to the depth desired,The drag is not wonderful, but works well enough.I don't feel the eagle would work like a Fly fishing reel,t least not as well,I don't know about the reel above,it is enexpensive.

They are called a straight line reel and are very popular for ice fishing . They are great on a jig pole , there are better ones on the market. Google " straight line reels"
Can't help it, I just use ultra light spinning reels. To old to change to something else. But hey, what have you got to loose to try it?

Hey 20 I have an Eagle Ice reel. It's good for spider rigging where the reel seat is in the middle of the handle but not good for on a bottom seat rod to use for dipping in brush or around trees. The large handles seems to be in the way and tangle the line you hold in your left hand.

i have 2 and use them for verticle jigging and love them (same brand). I am going to purchase 4 more to replace my WM solo reels. I am having issues with the side screws coming loose. I have 1 on a 9' and 1 on the 10 ' have been nothing but pleased.
