If the tree limbs are not hitting you in the head...the power poles should be ok maybe. Dunno, you might ought to do some measuring. I dont want to go under limbs anyway...good way to get a snake in the boat.
been flirting with buying a pair of power poles for my 18ft. express. only thing holding me back is there are times when fish in thick cypress trees on some of the oxbows of the ms. i worried about em hanging up all the time when fishing in that thicker timber. anybody got any thoughts on that. thanks.

I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I imagine it would happen all the time, if you fish like I do. Sometimes I leave my spyder loks on the back after long lining and get up in and out of thick trees to jig and hang them up all the time. They arent near the height as a power pole. But I also take my boat where a lot of guys don't go.

On my 1648 jon. I use a cheap king pin anchor system with 2 piece 12 fiberglass poles for shallow anchor system King Pin Anchors, front and bow. Works great and cheaper than power poles. Welcome to King Pin Anchors | A MarineTech Brand. Also the 2 piece 12’ poles fit nicely in the boat out of the way when you don’t want to use them. Click on the products Tab for bow and rear mounts.

I got the transom mount for the back for blue gill bed fishing last spring vs, throwing a anchor out, and used it 3 times in a 10-15 mph wind on West Boggs as I also steadied the front of the boat with trolling motor up front and worked great then. Haven’t had much chance after that in mid June to use them and did use them once on East Fork ofmthe White River in a current once for cat fishing when the river was normal also. I am pretty impressed and I think you just have to pick and choose where you would use them, but if you stick the pole deep enough, your going to have to wiggle it free and a lot depends on the bottom your sticking it in. I really want to use it more before I spring for the bow mount and if I get the bow mount will get the detachable version. I can even see this working for duck hunting if your into ducks. You can google some users of this and they have a catfish version somebody makes also. And there’s a electronic version bass pro has for 600 bucks.

I shopped for mine and found best pricing between eBay and Amazon. 2 piece 3/4 dia 12’ long fiberglass pole was like 100-105.00, 2.5. Transom black bracket around 127.00. Front bracket with quick release plate around 150.00. Chrome is alittle more. Google panther king pin shallow anchor system, or marinetech products.
