    Default swim baits

Not to beat a dead horse but I have been catching some pretty fair fish with the 2" swim baits and wondering about going to a 3" bait. I know or think it will cull some smaller fish which I really don't mind, any of you using the 3" models and have any insight. It seem that the fish are really on the swim bait or really off it and when you catch one its down deep in the fish. I am tight-lining with a 1/4 oz weight about 18" above the bait, looks like it would be a good long-line bait.

I have used both the 2 and 3 inch and have caught fish on both. I like to use them casting this time of year. I normally use the 2 inch, but found some old 3 inch sassy shads in my box and tried them last weekend, didn't seem to make much difference.

I have some 3" shiny shad that I like. Problem is, the bass like em too. Seemingly more so than the crappie in my recent experience. When you are expecting a 2 lb fish and a fat largemouth grabs it, it's kind of a shock. Of course that's the chance we all take.

I picked some up last night that I was planning to try this evening.

Is there any special technique you guys are using with these?

I generally use a fairly slow retrieve with a "twitch" every few cranks.

I'm tight-lining mine just like a tube jig. I don't do too much casting anymore.

I myself have used the storm swim baits , but as superdave said...bass love 'em too. Iusually mix my retrieve up until i find a way that seems to attract the crappie to bite.
    I don't go Fishing...I go CATCHING!
