    Default Humminbird

I have noticed that a lot of people are complaining about their Hummingbirds. I don't see very many complaints about Lawrance. Is it because Hummingbirds are the most used or is it that Lawrance is not having the same problems. I am thinking of upgrading my units and I,like everyone, don't want to make a 2000 plus mistake. Along with crappie I also catfish a lot. Just looking for opinions. Thanks.

If I was spending that much I’d throw Garmin into the consideration. I run lowrance and garmin and like both units. Mine are the lower end units tho.

No issues with my bird so far and I haven’t seen another brand that’s any clearer than my mega image! I Absolutely love it!

Had Lowrance and now have ‘Bird. No issues with the birds and this is #4 on the boat now. Lots of folks probably have the same story of the Lowrance units they have. I’ll stick with my birds.

I love my Garmin. If I had big pockets and was in the market id get the mega. But I have 0 complaints with my Echo's.

I have an HB Mega Si. I’m not one to get hung up on brands. Next one I buy could be something else. But this is my 2nd HB in 5 years. Very happy with it as I was the old 899....they both served and are serving me well.

    Regards

The only issues I've heard of with the HB units is the new software updates can be glitchy, some report problems with depth readings, and then you have the classic HB doughnut dilemma on map heading when going really slow. I have two units a Helix 10 Sonar GPS on the bow and a Helix 9 Mega SI on the console. The only problems I have had is with the lakemaster mapping, on the Helix 10 I went thru a spell where my map was becoming pixilated, I could restore to default and it would be fine for awhile longer, it hasn't done this for several months and I fish several days a week. The 9 SI Mega is now loading the lakemaster maps very slowly, sometimes taking several minutes and this just begun a couple weeks ago, I will contact HB and from my experience the customer service is top notch as others have stated. I haven't done any updates recently, I was advised several months ago not to. Overall I'm happy with my units, they perform flawlessly 98% of the time.
