    Default BIG Tiller handle motors

Who all runs a big tiller handle motor? I know you guys up north run big v6 motors with tiller handles. Just thinking about putting a new boat together. My boat now is a 1452 with a 40hp yamaha tiller. Wantin to put together a 1660 with a 75hp tiller.

    Any input?

Hey Slipcork, I know guys who have 150,175 and 200 horse tiller handles on their commercial fishin boats on the lake I fish. But then again I'm talking about a bout with a 1/4 inch thick hull and is heavy. If it's the size motor you are worried about with a tiller handle, I don't think it would be a problem just make sure the motor is rated for the size boat you have.

I have seen a few of the ones extreme is speaking of. They seem to handle well. I also saw a bit of a show this weekend but can't remember which on (Maybe Linder) and they were running a 175 on a Lund. Something about the new technology that when you let go of the handle it locks the steering. it also has where you can adjust the throttle tension to use sort of as cruise control.

    Yes, that"s the one.

I've got a question about that motor though.

If you've got the throttle set and take your hand off the tiller. What happens if you fall out of the boat? Other then the obvious. I'm sure there is a lanyard kill on it, but still.

You would think that the manufactures would be scared to death to build and sell a motor like that. There are that kind of people that would get up and make a sandwich while motoring down the lake.

That is one sweet outfit prchjerker. Very, very nice.

Kill switch and I also put the trim swith on the floor so I trim with my foot, so if need be you can hang on with your other hand, with the trim on floor you dont have to use 2 hands to run the motor.

I too saw Linder running one of the new 175 HP tiller motors and I was totally impressed. I couldn't believe he could do what he was. Steering with hi thumb and one finger and then take his hands off the end of the tiller and push on the tiller from one side and it didn't budge at all.

    Impressive for sure!

Running a 90 Yamaha 4 stroke tiller, wouldn't have it any other way -
except maybe a rig like perchjerkers Lund :D

Its just like running a console boat, horse power of that size you should always wear your kill switch.
