Nice catch, and I really like that jig!
Snatched this guy up on the Atchafalya Spillway today. I didn't know they extended as far down as South Louisiana. If I've ever caught one before, they weren't as distinctive as this guy was.

Their territory is expanding, seems like on a yearly basis. Some by DNR stocking & some just making their way along the interconnecting waterways. And there are many bodies of water where they occur naturally. Ain't no telling where that beauty came from, but I bet I know where it's going.

Cool fish.
I believe they do reproduce. Nice catch, they are here in TN.
Absolutely they reproduce, they're just a regular Black Crappie with a pigment gene that produces the stripe.
The ones that have the stripe & aren't always 100% capable of reproducing are the Magnolia Crappie (triploid crossbreed) of Mississippi, but they're generally confined to stockings in small lakes/impoundments in that state. They have the stripe because one of the parents is a true Blacknose.
Nice racing stripe!! Nice catch.
