Default Old Friend Matthew Carroll Passed Away This Week

Many of you may not know Matthew Carroll, but was a jig tier here in Texas that was pretty well known and he passed away this week after a long illness. Just thought I would post it here in case anyone knew him and didn't know he has passed. He was a good friend to many and while we had a couple issues, mostly we were friends. I last talked to him several weeks ago and he called me to help another guy tying. So he was always good for info on tying and helped many guys get started. RIP Matthew!

He did his posting on TFF Crappie Board so that is where most of the posting about him is from. I will post a link for this if interested.

Hard to lose anyone that you think well of. Friends are harder yet. Sorry to hear we lost a good one. Good men are hard to come by. My prayers for his friends and family.

Of all the many unfriendly folks on that forum ....Jiggum was one who never joined in the trash . He sent me a few jigs to test way back when , I was astounded as to the size of them at 1/8 oz. number 2 hook big things . Dropped one once on a braid rod by a tree looking for crappie and bought went for swim , whatever hit it was heading the other way about 100 miles an hour and about dislocated my shoulder ...bent that hook straight as an arrow it did ....
Taught a bud or 3 of mine to tie some great jigs he did ....truly an American fishing legend ....made me sad to hear he passed
My condolences to his family and friends
