Post transducer cable wire is cut

I found the problem with my fish finder.
    The transducer is cable cut.
Can I splice the wires back together, if so how should I do this.

I don't know if it can be spliced, but it's worth a try anyway. Stop by Radio Shack and pick up some "heat shrink". Place it on one side before you make the splice. You should soder the joint. Slide the heat shrink over the splice and then shrink it down over your joint. If the splice will be under water, I would suggest covering the area with a good quality silicone sealant to water proof your work.

Oh, and let us know if it does work. I could save us all from purchasing those high $$$ replacements!

I have spliced several and they worked just as good as before. You have a center wire and a shield wire. Just make sure you splice them in such a way so the wires don't touch each other. If the splice is below the water line, make sure it's water tight.

I have repaired them ......you have to connect and heatshrink the inner wire and the pull the shielding wire or foil ... it could be either ... back over the inner heatshrink so that it makes ciruit again . It will not need a connector and the heatshrink over that with a larger heatshrink.
Make sure that you trim it far enough bac to get rid of any moisture or moisture damaged wire before you start.

If you live close to Paducah I have a buddy that does all of our radar, radio, & sounder work on our tow boats. The company is Gmeni Marine Electronics. The number is 270-898-6018. Ask for Skip. If it can be fixed he can fix it! :D
