Default Crappie jigs are not all created equal....photo heavy

First off there are about a bunch of different renditions of my favorite hand tied crappie jig .
Most are predominantly ORANGE headed and bodied with chart tails and a bit of flash in the tail .
That said this one SK made for me last year has been to the Emerald coast in the surf and bay twice during the last 2 summers .
    It isn't JUST a crappie jig …..
One thing I know factually about the salty fish is that if you are a crappie person you best get super jiggy with it if you want them salty fisheez to hit your jig and forget about crappie presentations pretty much totally .
The surf was pretty rough compared to last year and the trying to ketch in it didn't go well for me .
I tried the bay a bit and found a few fish there ,but pinfish ruled and not much else was in the mood to play …
HERDS of flipper fish things followed me all over the place and pretty much ruined it every time they showed up .
Them dolphins hit me in the surf at first light , the bay at first light and really tried to ruin my party boat gig 30 miles off shore .
To bad dolphins are a protected species , they sure are smart animals and I am pretty sure after my recent visit to that coast they know exactly who I am and in turn see me as a victim of that fish stealing trying to jerk you off your feet thing they are so fond of …...
the good news is they only got about half my fish on the party boat and I still got to keep enough fish for some Texas style snapper tacos I ate last night
and NO I didn't try to ketch none of the big jacks in shallow water because I know what they do to your tackle and yes I did pitch a bream jig at the pinfish some as well .
Hopefully later today I will get to try to ketch me a crappie , I miss crappie
and I DO NOT miss the dolphins even a little bit ….
stay tuned , hope you enjoy the photos
p.s. made a few new friends while I was down there

Great looking fish for doing what you know how to do. Those snapper make some dandy taco's, I have no doubt. Good Job and thanks for taking us along.

Catching salty fish is fun because you never know what will be on the line. Most of them eat good too!
