    Default Another cranking question

As my other topic mentioned I pulled crankbaits for the first time this weekend. I've been longing for a few years with jigs. When the fish would hit it would about pull the rods out of the rod holders They would really move a lot and I had them tightened as much as I could. Is that because of the crankbait creating more drag as compared to using jigs?? I fish out of an old aluminum boat on a 10 horse Max Lake most of the time so I'm a little Limited by what kind of setup so I can have. I have a homemade setup. I've added a picture of it.Name: IMG_20180721_095412381.jpeg

The actual rod holders are spinning when you get a hit?? Or the board they are mounted to?

The rod holders are spinning. I was just looking at it and I could probably screw up screw down next to it to keep it from moving.

I'd invest in some good quality rod holders

I'm not sure it will work on my boat. My boat is a 1973 and it has a wood floor that I can't get underneath. Here's a picture of my current base Name: 1532476344701.jpeg

I agree with the better rod holders. I have the Hi Tek Extreme and they don’t move and the rods don’t twist sideways in the holders. After trying several others I like these best. Scott will make any base needed to fit your boat.

I am doing a boat remodel right now so maybe some new bases would be good if they will work. Just got new millennium seats with this base that allows the seat slide Name: 1532476540547.jpeg

If the rod holder is turning on the mounting bored just get you a large wood screw long enough T to protrude above holder when screwed in. Install one on each holder in that slot just behind your existing mounting bolt. That way it can't turn. Don't over complicate it.
