    Default ? on weight


    I caught a 15 and half inch crappie that was very fat but i didnt have a scale so i let it go now im wondering how much it might have weighed.

    I would guess 1.75 lbs or thereabouts. Nice one for sure!

    Question Could have been .....

    anything from 2lbs to 3lbs ... there's just no accurate way of telling.

    (and just so you understand the misconception that a "weight calculator" can cause .... the calculators I tried, using 15.5" length, says the fish weighed 3.1lbs :rolleyes: ---- then you take into account, some of the fish that Jerry Blake has measured/weighed, that were 16" long ... and his estimate is around 2lbs)

    I'd definitely put the 15.5" fish at over 2lbs ... especially if it was a roe laden female. Don't know as I'd go as far as saying it could have weighed 3lbs, though.

    Thx for the replies guys it was a huge crappie my pb by far just dont know the weight but ill be ready next time at least i let it go to get bigger.

    Two big crappie fillet sandwiches with coleslaw and fries HUUM about 1.6lbs after a nap on the couch and not taking a walk.
