I recently bought a few packs of Bobby Garland Baby Shad baits which I think are some of the best in the business. Lately I've noticed many of them have come out straight out of a new package looking deformed. My last pack had 75% that I felt were unusable. I tried letting them sit out, I tried to put a weight on top to straighten the tails out. I even put one in a small vice to see if it would make a difference. Nothing seemed to work.
Finally, I put them in a bowl of really hot water (not boiling but close). Within a few minutes they started relaxing and went back to there original shape. I figured some of you may have experienced the same thing so I'm passing along the idea to you because it can get expensive if you have to keep throwing them out.
If you don't think they look realistic, just look at them after they have started to relax in hot water. I had several BG Monkey Milk in a bowl and they looked just like little bait fish in the water. Hope this tip can help a few of you.

The hot water trick is the best way. You can even use boiling water as it's still below the plastic's melting temp. I've used hot coffee in a pinch and I think the fish liked that!
Thanks for the post. That’s my go to bait in the winter

Thanks, the tails with kinks have drove me nuts, fish may not care but it bugs me.

I put em in the sun a while -- it helps some. THANKS for hot water tip. Monkey milk is color I use most.
