Twain - Crankfest Teaser

Just a little update.....

I've gotten a little taste of it recently when I've had the chance to run down however, my Dad has been on an absolute tear and harassing the crappie/walleye on Twain for the past month. He's consistently on the water by 5:00 A.M. and off by 10:30 with his crappie and somewhat predictably, a walleye or two. Over the past couple months I've had the chance to make a few day trips (which is saying something with a 5 hour drive on each end) but, it's been worth it and I cannot wait to spend 3-4 days at the cabin doing just that.

Two weeks ago, we were coming back through Missouri after spending some time in KC. I mentioned to Alivia (5YO) we were going by the cabin and she wanted to go fish. One phone call to Papa and we were pulling up to the cabin at the same time, to put Ms. Alivia on some fish. This photo was shot just after she said, "Daddy, I got it!" Yes, she's wearing a dress and yes, I'm ok with it:



Weekend after that, a buddy of ours stood in for me and in a matter of hours, they had their 30 crappie and 6 walleye on ice:



Just this past Thursday, I happened to be in Canton, IL with my wife's family celebrating the Holiday at their ranch and decided I was in striking distance of another morning fishing with my Dad. Woke up at 1:15 A.M. and, after 3 hours, 22 deer, 3 cups of coffee and 1 certificate of appreciation from the local sheriff's office (warning ticket)), I rolled into the boat ramp where Dad was waiting. Boat riding by 5:00 A.M. and boat back on the trailer with 30 crappie at 9:30. Hell, I made it back to Canton for a late lunch!



All I can say is come on August!

Sounds like a lot of fun was had. I think it would be a good idea for the rest of us, just to follow your dad. I'm sure a long line would form....

I'll put an official post up tomorrow (exactly one month out) however, I plan on being at Twain 8/9 - 8/12. The shindig at our place will be on that Saturday, August 11.
