    Default Swamp cooler project pics

    This is version 2.0..........

I first made a small box 12x6x7 (LWH). I then mounted a 4 inch bilge blower and chambered it off using styrofoam and old paneling cause it was free. I then made a top and mounted computer radiators (90mm type) so to center over the bower end chambers. I used some cheap plastic water line and did the plumbing. Each radiator has its own circulation pump, submersible miniature12v type. I used mostly tinsel tape and latex caulk to stick things together.

I used 2 radiators for good cooling. The air is sucked into the first cooling chamber and blown out the second cooling chamber using one blower motor. This is somewhat similar to a window a/c using a one motor concept.

I checked the current draw. It was 2.68A, max speed. This amperage included both circulate pumps and the blower. Not bad for a roll ur own.

The fan and pump noise is tolerable, but I can't hear jack anyway.

I filled the cooler with enough water to cover the circulate pumps, put in a couple of trays of ice and rolled it outside. Worked just fine. I sat wit the the cooler and didn't get uncomfortable. A few degrees makes a big difference.

Tomorrow I will put in a couple of bags of ice and see how long it cools. This is a prototype, nothing of beauty here.

I enjoy piddling. Can't catch fish.

Well I have to thank whoever posted the Artic Cool misting fan sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. Extremely well made and can use fan only on the bucket of water or sump water to mist and fan. Awesome and can be enhanced by cooling the water. Not as cool as Cane Pole (excuse the pun) but I could not build anything like he does so easily. Way to go Cane Pole!
