I know I say this every summer. I love to go fishing, but not in this HOT weather. I am waiting for things to cool down. I guess I am getting OLD...... So what else is new.........crappie1133

My son and I went for 1 1/2 hours today. Caught a few bluegill and bass and then back home to cool off for a bit. Then back out to clean the boat and start packing it up for vacation. It's a good thing my boat is parked in the shade. We don't leave until Saturday but I wanted to get a head start. I also cleaned my cover. That was the hardest part. All the reaching and scrubbing with a bristle brush.

Well some of you may or may not know I worked 21 years in Saudi. Took the heat just fine......and I mean real heat. But the last time I was in Saudi was 2001. I’m now 67 and this year the heat is keeping me off the water. I’m not close enough to the water to be on it at first light.....would have to get up at 2:00 a.m. So I guess I’m going to have to try the evening bite.....say fish from five until almost dark. I can still take the high 80’s but this past week temps have been mid nineties and above in some cases.....with heat indices around 108. Old Father Time marches on....LOL.

    Regards

I feel ya, brother !! It's 130AM and the temp is 80deg (Heat Index 87deg) .... tomorrow's high is forecast to be 92deg (Heat Index 101deg), about what it's been for the last week or so.
Even if I could stand that kind of heat, scattered thunderstorms about every day has kept me off the water for a month.

May get a chance Sat morning, after the cold front passes ... 60deg Fri night & 83deg high for Sat (plus the lake will be back down to normal pool & around 82deg surface temp).

It's been 7 days now with the heat above 90 and index above 100. Walt & I won't be fishing until it moderates. We're just a tad too old to take chances at this stage of our lives. The fish can wait! Saturday is looking promising at this point after a cold front moves in with some rain on Friday.
