    Default Hot Water Fishing

Has not arrived locally. We launched at just after 7:00 this morning into 68 degree water. The morning was chilly enough for a light jacket. Today, we had the pleasure of having our oldest daughter on board! As a school teacher, she is on summer break. Even more importantly, she is carrying our first grandchild, due in January! Anyway, the fishing involved our typical single pole approach. Brushpiles, blow downs, and docks, all on the main channel. I look for brush, bait, and hopefully fish, in 15’ - 30’. Weedless jigheads make this approach much less frustrating. Our fish today were caught on a variety of styles and colors of jig bodies. None emerged as a true winner, as it took a run n gun or hunt and peck approach. Slab Sauce as well as Crappie Nibbles provided a bit more enticement to our offerings. As the morning wore on, the sun got fierce, so we pulled the plug at 10:00. My mechanic had worked on a motor issue, and a lake test proved successful. I called him with the results and asked about paying him. He said to just wait and make sure the problem is resolved. That’s one of many reasons that I use this guy! We invited nine fish home for dinner! Name: IMG_0969.jpg

Great catch and congrats on the grand-baby, they are so much fun and then you send them home, remembering why you had kids at an early age. 68 degree water temperature, must be the influx of water being sluiced through the upstream dams. It was 82 on Wednesday in the lakes above you. I see both blacks and whites in the cooler, a mixed bag for dinner!

That is exactly what I was thinking about the water temp. I hadn’t been in a week, and was shocked that it was that cool. Lots of logs floating, and one area I wanted to fish was completely covered with debris. We are excited about a grandchild! I’ve got a wife, two daughters, and a female dog. I pray for healthy, but a boy would be some sweet icing on that cake! Oh, and blacks came from docks, and whites from brush. I don’t know the scientific answer, but I have noticed it in summer.

Congrats on the new addition. G-kids are awesome. We have four and one in the oven.
I'm seeing the same thing across the board, spawn is oven and we are in a pre to summer pattern already.
