Southern Crappie heavies will do the trick.
Been reading posts about pulling Crankbaits, went by Academy in Greensboro and looked at them. Gonna give it a try soon but have a question. For jig trolling (1/32-1/8oz)I’m using 2ea 9’, 10’ & 12’ Slab Seeker or SouthBend Rods with Shimano 1000’s. Do folks drag cranks with these or should I break out the slightly heavier tackle? Penn 4300’s and the like. Don’t think I need bass size gear although sure I’ll catch some like with jigs. Thanks in advance.

Southern Crappie heavies will do the trick.
you dont even need the heavies i pull cranks with the very same rod i pull jigs with, i like that soft action it allows the fish to take the crank better and not rip the hooks out, just like bass fishing with a soft fiberglass rods is prefered forccranks, yeah itll put a little bend in the rod but trust me when a fish bites youll know
I use BnM PST's with Shakesphere ATS line counter reels.

I use B&m psts pulling out back. Southern Ts series up front pushing. Both great rods. You will need heavy poles not for the crappie size fish but for all the larger fish you will catch and when you get hung up. The heaverier gear assists in horsing larger fish through lines reducing multiple lines being tangled. Unlike spriderrigging, the poles can have line out from 40-100 feet. A catfish rolling around for awhile because a soft back bone rod can’t horse him will give you some tangles big enough to raise a nesting of eagles.
