we are talking about Crappie fishing ; here we go we are longlining using rodholders the object of this technique is to catch fish !!! right !!!

    now here we go ; we got 8 rods at $80 ea , 8 reels $80 ea that's $1280 for the set-up
say another guy has 8 rods $30 ea and 8 reels at $12 ea that's $336 for the set-up !!!

say both guys come home with a limit each !!! can someone tell me why a person would over $1000 for rods&reels for longlining when all you do is cast the jig and set the rod in the rodholder ??? can a fish tell if its being caught on a $1000 set-up compared to a $336 set-up ??????

Its the same with anything. People buy Corvettes knowing the speed limit is a max of 75mph. Why buy a car that can run 200 if you cant legally do it? They like the look, feel, design or quality better. Is the B'n'M Sams Sensitive more sensitive than my Mr. Crappie longpole? Probably but I still catch fish on my cheapo. Its all about preference.

    This ^^^^^

99% of the tackle questions on this board just come down to personal preference. Fish with whatever you want . Everybody else does.

I agree. I find the cheaper the rod the softer the action and seems to work better longlining. The Shimano IX1000 reels are about $12.00e and work fine longlining.

Its all about how you want to do it, what you like and especially what you can afford. If I could go out and buy a brand new ranger and 15" humminbirds a new set of whatever $80 dollar poles and whatever else my heart of hearts desires you can bet that I would!
