Official weight 5.46 lbs!! If it is DNA confirmed, this is a state record and possibly world record for Black crappie. Old record 4lbs and 4 ounces.

Whoa! I'm guessing it's a hybrid though.

I dunno, GRIZZ .... doesn't have any semblance of White Crappie markings that I can see. KY went thru that back a few years ago, and it turned out to be a hybrid, so it didn't qualify as a World Record Black Crappie contender (4lb 15oz) ... but it did qualify as a state record, since KY does not distinguish between the species.

It's a monster for sure.
Doubt I'll ever catch one close to that, however it gives me a new goal and perspective.

Big fish for sure, do we know that is a pond fish. Doesn't take away from the fact this is a really big fish. I am 71 and caught one 3lb 3oz. I catch very few 2lb fish and when i do they are returned to grow bigger. Would like one more monster, then another and another......nothing like a boating a really big fish.
