Default My john boat set up

I got into spider rigging this year and really enjoy it. The problem I had was a smaller boat (1548) and rod storage during road and on the water transport. I don't have a transport rack for on the road travel so to keep them from getting tangled up I wrap the line around the rods and I put a piece of pipe insulation on the tips to keep them from moving. I use a piece of velcro to keep the insulation in place. I then use another velcro strip to secure the reel ends of the rods. It isn't perfect but it generally does the job. I do tie them down but my trolling motor folds down over the rods so I really don't think they would go anywhere. I say better safe than sorry. I'm using 12' South Bend crappie stalkers. They catch plenty of fish and stow easily in my boat. The pics only show 4 rods. I was taking a quick pic to send to my buddy who had the same problem. When it's time to go fishing I have all 8 rods wrapped up in that bundle.

I made this rack for on the water transport whether making my initial run or running between ares. It is clamped in place so no holes in the boat needed. The only drawback is it is important to remember you have those rods sticking up before going under a bridge. I use the same kind of rack to store my rods on my garage ceiling.

I hope this might give others ideas if they spider rig out of a smaller boat and might be having the same concerns.

I like the rack! Been trying to come up with something like you have made. I break my rods down and put in rod box, but at lake they get tangled running from spot to spot.
