Has anyone looked at or thought about a product called Filletzall. It is a blade that fits in a mini sawzall and then used as a portable fillet knife. I am sure it wouldn't get hot no matter how many crappie you did but the only demos I could find were on bigger saltwater fish. I was wondering how it would do on a fish like crappie.

With one of these, might be pretty slick.

I contacted Filletzall and they have an 8.5" blade they use specifically for crappie. The owner is a fellow Texan and I exchanged a few emails with him regarding the knife. After speaking with him I became more comfortable with his product and his character. He's just another fisherman looking for a better thing like all of us. I will be ordering a blade soon and will test it out and then post a review here and on the main forum as well.

I wonder why they don't make one to fit a regular fillet knife. I'm sure they could make it adapt to one for someone who only cleans a few fish weekly and doesn't want such a heavy tool.

Rigid makes a smaller version that I will be buying also. I like the heavy duty aspect of it since I do coastal fishing as well. Regular fillet knives dont do very good on redfish.

I bought the blade and have been researching the mini sawzalls before I buy one. Rigid had one on Amazon that was refurbished for about 65 dollars. No longer available, there is one other on amazon. I was in Lowes yesterday and they have a Kobalt one handed mini sawzall for $65 bucks, it was a little heavy, maybe 4-4.5 lbs. I don't think you could EVER wear this out. Blade is $31.
