    Default Horizontal Jig Presentation!

When you tie on a jig directly to your line is there any knot that will keep your jig fixed in a horizontal position?

I am not for sure of the knot name, but it is the knot that Wally Marshall ties. (In one of his video's.) Basically, you run your line through the eye, pull a long tag end and wrap the doubled line around your first and second finger while leaving a big hole in the middle between your fingers. From there your drop your bait through the hole 3 times, and hold the loop closest to the bait and cinch up. It will not pull tight against the eye and allow your bait to hold horizontal. Clear as Mud?

Before you tighten the knot on your jig, hold the jig horizontally and make sure the knot is on top of the jig eye. If I can find a pic of what I mean, I'll post it.

    Default Best Knot

I still use a Palomar Knot. Holds extremely well and easy to tie.

These jigs are so perfectly balanced you can use a loop knot and they stay perfectly horizontal on their own....and they catch fish!!!!!

I used to tie directly to the eye with a clinch knot or a palomar but got tired of having to reposition the knot after every fish. This year I switched over to using a loop knot on everything.

I agree the loop knot like Todd Huckabee ties or the surgeon knot is the way to go. I use Teezur jigs and Big head jigs. These knots make let them hang perfectly.

Yea, I use Crappie Pro 1/8 and 3/16 on 2" Beavertails and Bighead Jigs. Loop knot does just fine and the water pressure holds the baits horizontal.

I have got to where I use the little no-knot clips so I can change jigs without re-tying at all and the jig is free to swing. I have not noticed any decreased number of hits either. They were actually made for fly fishing, but I like them.
