Jig head with spinners

Under what conditions do you find the addition of a spinner to a jig advantageous?

Any condition,I've used jig heads on beetle spins for years.A lot of choices are preferences more than necessities,catching crappie or gills on a variety of lures,sometimes over a short period of time often proves this.One instance comes to mind,I anchored near a log jamb, tossing a shiney Hiney,I wore the crappie out.
After several crappie,I broke off, rather than retie I grabbed a back up pole that had a beetle spin with a black jig head and a black twisty tail 2" grub.I tossed the beetle spin in the same area,letting it swim slowly back toward me along side the same log jamb.
The bight was just as ferocious,as it was with the S/H,even though the two baits differed.Nothing is a sure thing,but why not switch it up,the results may just surprise you.One more point,IMHO,I wonder if tossing the same lure multiple times might in a weird way bore the fish,switching up seems to re energize their interest.......sometimes.

I don't "add" a spinner to a jig head, but I do switch between a jig/plastics & a marabou Road Runner quite often. I usually have two casting rods ready when working the banks or shallows (<10fow) .... and run the Road Runner thru the top few feet and over top of submerged cover, then probe the deeper water & cover slower with the jig/plastics.

The spinner on a Road Runner (or any like it) gives off flash and extra vibrations that a fish can more easily home in on. That's its biggest advantage IMHO ...

I use them all the time. Clear water,muddy water,it don't matter. If you see me fishing you can be assured I am pulling them.

I also like this approach my friend. One of my rods is an underspin like a Road Runner and the other is just a jig and soft plastic. I mostly fish 1/8th or 1/16th jigs with a 2" stinger soft plastic. All of my lines end in a hook snap so I can quickly change lures (size, color or jig head type.)

I like them in cloudy water conditions myself and use them in lots of different presentations ...cast and drag ...vertical ...under a float and etc etc

I use them with a slow steady retrieve is required. You can cover alot of water using them. I use them more for white bass fishing than crappie fishing due to crappie fishing here requires a more vertical presentation.
