    Default Egg Stage/Condition Question

I pulled a couple out from 15 fow we just had a cold front pass the day before, their eggs look different from what I’ve seen before. What your thoughts on them?Name: IMG_5446.JPG

Need to be a lighter yellow color and no blood veins and eggs need to be more firm with egg sacks bulging full.

I have heard of stories that if weather conditions are not right for spawning then the fish will absorb their eggs and not spawn. Don't know if there is any fact to that or if this is a sign of it, out of the 4 I cleaned last night 2 were like this 1 was normal looking the other was a male. In my area of the lake they have not moved to the bank yet, this time last year we were well into the 2nd week of hot and heavy bank fishing.

I think your dealing with colder than normal spring temps and that said, the spawn will possibly be alittle later due to cold water conditions. Even when you have normal spring and normal water temps, not all fish are going to spawn at once. Some parts of your lake may have warmer water in it in different locations even causing a prolonged spawn. I have seen crappie spawn as late as first week of June here in southern Indiana as for late spawners in same lakes I fish while other crappie in same lake are done spawning. As large as those egg sacks are, they just need alittle more time to develop as I see it.
