Things don't always go as planned

How often do you guys start out intending to fish only for crappie and end up fishing for gills, bass, cats, white bass, etc., ..........cuz crappie can be finicky sometimes and I just like to catch fish and sometimes opportunity knocks and I have to answer ! Just curious if other guys do the same.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. did that the other day. Didn't catch a crappie, but did catch some bluegill.

I do that all the time,I am a equal oppertunity fisherman.I will go with whatever is biting if the crappie are not.I went yesterday to a small pond after crappie they werent interested, so 3 largemouth and 2 nice bream later i was a happy camper.

I got interested in catching crappie because I was occasionally catching one on my bass baits...now I'm fishing with a jig catching bass, catfish, bluegill, and an occasional crappie I'll sort it out one day, but they all contribute to a good "fry"...I'm OK with variety, but prefer the crappie.

I fish for crappie until:
1) I figure them out and catch some.
2) I get my limit.
3) I get tired.
4) I run out of daylight.

I guess I'd be what you call a fanatic. I never wet a hook for anything else. Now if a bass or a catfish wants to bite a jig, then I will put them in grease! Don't keep bream at all.

Ya you can count me in there too. I like fishin for crappie, but blue gills are fun too. White bass with ul gear is a blast. Last year while at a church camping trip I caught a 4 1/2 Small mouth on a 1.5 inch wooly beavertail crappie jig, with a 7 1/2 foot BPS mico light rod with 2# line.
When I go up to the mountain I fish for trout.
In the ocean rock cod and salmon, halibut.
I just like to fish.

I have certain times of the year that I may fish for a certain species. Fall through the Crappie spawn I only have one thing on my mind...Crappies. I get serious about red ear this time of the year too until about mid may. After that, I might try some blue gills in some of the deepper clear lakes in the state. Summer time is mainly reserved for messing with the grandkids on the toon boat and cleaning out the freezer so I can start it all over again next Fall.

I'm like DRPEPPER in a way...i usually only target crappie but do catch the occasional bass/catfish/white bass/bream etc. all of which i release. When the redear are bedding up and hit the shallows i target those as well as big gills which seem to hit good around that time.
