    Default Pomme 1/31/18

Made it to Pomme for the first time since the summer for a couple hours of fishing this afternoon.

Fished standing Timber near a river channel in 45 fow, fish all over the place from near the bottom to 15ft.

Had 7 or 8 by dark, 5 that were just barely legal to keep, and a cigar walleye. Purple/chart slab buster (thanks for that recommendation beagle man) 1/16 oz jig, drop it to the bottom reel up slow a few inches at a time, pause, thump.

MDC report shows that the crappie population is up 5x what it was in 2014. Means good things for the years to come.

Water was 38* and fairly clear

tons of fish in that lake ,more than I've ever seen.just lots of shorts right now.they will grow up.Got my limit fan casting over the schools of shad last Sat.out in the old river channels.Caught over 100 small white bass and 40 to 50 crappie.Seems they wanted it moving .Was fishing the upper end of the Pomme arm but still out in the lake.

If posting a water temperature type the number then hold down Alt and key in 0176 on the number pad.

    Thanks for the report.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Went again tonight and ending up keeping 7 and threw back a dozen or more shorts in a couple hours.

Two were 11+ inches, the rest were 9-10.

They definitely wanted it moving today, cast 20ft past the structure, let it sink, reel in really slowly or just let the bait pendulum towards you. BGBS in live minnow worked the best this time.
