I wish I could set up for crappie trees and such, but it's illegal in my area. What do you do instead?

genec, that's what I was thing. I had read years ago you had to have written permission fro ma District Commander and all that. I've been to find where I read that, but I can't.

I know ppl put out trees all the time, but since I run a YouTube channel, I gotta make sure everything I do it to the letter of the law. Period.

I know some bamboo stands that I could make some quick brush piles easily, but I gotta know it's legal before I go filming it.

Different Lakes have their own rules and regulations. You need to get in contact with the Ranger or who ever is in charge of the Lake you are wanting to place habitat. Just tell him how, what, and about where you would like to place it and that you will be sure to weight it down good and deep enough as to not cause any boating accidents as this is what they are mainly worried about in most Lakes. Crappie Habitat "build it and they will come".

He lives in Alabama and I know most public water it is ok. I'm not 100% on black warrior but a quick phone call to the
DNR will confirm one way or the other

Heres my idea for ya. Find a way to cut bank trees so they look like the wind snapped 'em and drag them out away from the bank. Not planting habitat....natural disaster.

Uh, nope .... that's just as illegal as dropping brush/trees (where "that" is illegal). And in some cases, it might be a much heftier fine or jail time ... like when the land is Federal Property.
