    Default Confession of a Dummie

Fisher people. This forum is so awesome and I have learned so much. Appears I have lots more to learn. Went hog wild with boat, trailer, trolling motor, two upscale charts and a gazillion jigs, poles, and assorted items to chase crappie in a lake that is ten minutes away. All is well for the most part but recently I appealed to some learned folks to help me figure out why I could not get my Helix 10 to connect to my Ulterra. Well—one has to have iPilot LINK to connect. My Ulterra (2017 model) has iPilot and all along I thought iPilot LINK was an add on to a previous model. Minn Kota tech informed me that for a mere $700 I could have the parts shipped to upgrade my TM. This would allow me to follow Lake contours, back track, offset troll, and a myriad of functions that I do not think I will use. I will gleefully continue with spot lock, spot jog, trolling in a direction or heading and enjoy what I have. I am so sorry for taking your valuable time to try and fix what was not even a problem but an underwhelming level of misunderstanding. I guess my handle should be DUH. Thanks, all.

Don't feel bad. At the lightening rate that technology is progressing these days, it's easy to get confused. But isn't it fun too!

We all make mistakes, it's part of learning.
I too won't buy link and am content with ipilot, even the original version.

To be honest Minnkota created the confusion by naming the two products. In this day and age of texting words get shortened regularly. Ipilotlink could easier by shortened to link, or ipilot.

I am happy with my ipilot and see no reason to up grade. I do not follow contours either and I manage to catch my share.

    I understand completely!
I'm still in the "research phase" of which one to get, and STILL CONFUSED...
