Some friends sank some Christmas Trees this past Saturday. My question is how long does it take crappie to start finding them?

i sank 3 pvc trees Saturday also. was wondering the same thing.
How long would it take for you to check something new in your back yard.I have heard that they will check them out pretty quick and some even catching fish the next day.Now whether or not that they stay around it is if they like it. I have plowed up new ground before and that same day have had all types of animals check it out deer and turkeys also. I would not think fish would be any different.

Depends if there were fish in the area couple days maybe . The C trees are actually better after all the needles have fallen off. The pvc takes longer needs to start having moss etc , plankton growing to start the baitfish to hang around. Could have tied a few limbs or pieces of cloth on them to promote the small stuff growing easier

They will find a cedar tree pretty quick but they usually won't mess with a Christmas tree until after Thanksgiving.

Its been years since I put any out. but everyone I talk to says fresh evergreen trees take months before fish will use them. Something to do with the sap ?
But willow , bamboo, others can have fish the next day.
Have helped with habitat day at Enid Lake . Put cedar trees/limbs out in Feb. and catch fish off them a month later . These trees were cut several weeks before we put them out, but they were still green .

I do artificial reefs as part of my job. mostly saltwater. we dive the reefs as soon as the water clears. we sometimes see fish within hours.
