I have heard some good things about this new "Cajun Red", but I am an avid fan of the 6lb SpiderWire Mono. Very tough, very low memory, and yet very sensitive.
Who makes the best fishing line for crappie fishing? Looking for line that disappears in the water.

There are lots of good lines on the market. I think Tectan has the best strength-to-diameter ratio (it's 9# line has 4# diameter.)
Other good lines I've used are:
Trilene XL (a classic)
Spiderwire Super Mono (thinner than most)
Rapala (not sure if it's still made, but very strong for the diameter)
Bass Pro Excel (a great alternative to Trilene XL)
try Berkley Vanish. Good line but costs. My choice for the $ is Mr. Crappie from Bass pro Shops, monkscrappie.com, or grizzlyfigs.com. lBest for the $.
Cajun red will "start" to disappear at about 8-9 feet since it is true red is one of the first colors to fade out underwater. I use flourocarbon. Trout fishermen/ladies use it a lot now for flyline leader and you know how finicky trout can be.Originally Posted by mrwillis
