I've been using braid with a fluorocarbon leader for many years now. After trying various braids, I've settled on Fireline Crystal in 2# test rating. This "fused" line is extremely strong (much stronger than the 2# rating in my opinion), fine diameter and casts unbelievably well with 1/16 oz. jigs.
I add a 4' fluorocarbon leader which is rated at 4# test. This gives me just enough shock absorbing stretch on hooksets to be forgiving and is more abrasion resistant than mono or co-polymer types. I've never had an issue with line twist regardless of the type of plastic I dress my jigs with. Some of my reels see more than 2 seasons of use before I change the line, mainly due to the high vis of white crystal color eventually becoming dull with use and less visible to these old eyes.
I attach these together using the Alberto knot. Took me a bit of practice to achieve regular success with this joint, but it has never let me down, when tied correctly. It flows through the guides effortlessly and after a season of practice, I can tie this knot in the boat in a decent breeze with little difficulty - should the need arise.
This combo may not work for everyone under the various conditions fishermen are faced with, but it has been extremely dependable for me.
