Perhaps I've missed it,but has anyone tried and been successful at vertically jigging a roadrunner?

I vertical jig roadrunners year around. I Usually use a smaller gold blade in the winter for less flash. 1/8 or 1/4 oz is all I use

The legend , John Serellie , of Enid lake carried me to Grenada(2000-2004) South Greysport to fish cypress in deep water when it was 85-100 degrees . We used silver 1/16 road runners with nothing but a minnow . Pink bodies would work but nothing like the minnow hooked through the lips . We usually got one strike per tree if it was dead . Live cypress up toward Young' s landing held more if in 15 ft. water .R.i.p. John, You are missed .

Thanks folks, since our minnow dealer has closed shop,I'm prepping to try some different techniques.I fish a lot of tubes and jigs around timber, but have not tried roadrunners. Its also ice time here,so I'm considering jigging roadrunners through a six" hole,no room for anything but vertical jigging .

Think about trying a marabou RR. You do not need to give it much action. The marabou is enticing enough. I mainly use the 1/16 oz. size, but am thinking about trying the 1/32 oz. size this spring.

I have done everything with a RR that I have done with any other jig. There are times when the little bit of flash is just the ticket. No wrong way to fish one except moving it too fast, and even that catches a dumb one now and then.

One of if not the best baits ever designed,When the spring rush on our lakes. The roadrunners shelves become bare!! 1/32 -1/4 oz cannot get sold out!! We jig the 1/4 oz roadrunner catch 100's of white Bass, crappie and the targeted fish the "Walleye"!!
