Thanks, I am working on it!
Great article and advice!
Great article with some very valid points. By the end of this month - January - I'll have taken down all my pre-rigged rods from 2017.
Next, I'll send about 1/2 to 1 dozen spinning reels to our local reel service guy, who cleans and lubes them perfectly every season for me. (An ounce of prevention!)
Then I use "Magic Eraser" and warm water to clean all the cork handles to a like new condition.
I then apply a light coating of U-40 Cork Sealant to the dried handles, to re-seal any rough spots from use the precious season.
Next, a liberal coating of "ArmorAll" on all the rod blanks to get back their original shine and to apply a protective coating. (Actually I do this a few times each season.)
The real fun begins when I tear down and re-arrange all my tackle satchels (4), so that once again, I can find what I need come open water!
Should be done with all this by March 1st., at which point I re-spool my reels. Attach them to their matching rods and tie on my first jig of 2018!
Can't wait! This past weekend we broke our 4th. coldest air temperature record, with a -22 degree morning on Sunday! LOL!

Boat cleaned and waxed, all compartments cleaned and organized. Can't find Lucas Marine grease to pack hubs in backwoods Ms. May have to order it off internet.
What do you guys oil or grease your reels with?
Serviced my motor and trailer already, Done the tackle boxes and rods and reels. Cleaned the insides of the boat and all the screens and fish finders, Then you people keep posting stuff on this web site about diff rods, reels, and baits and I keep buying this and that and keep changing everything all over again. We really need to either quit posting about all this new equipment or make Slab just shut this website down for a month or so. I think I have an addiction! either that, or pray for the ice to melt so I can go fishing!
I cleaned the boat out and winterized the motor. Put it under my shed lean-too. Seriously debating pulling it into the garage this weekend for some much needed updates and some trailer repairs, trailer maintenance. I want to add rails for spider rigging and pulling cranks. Expand my fishing techniques this year.
I also want to redo the control panel area. Lower it so I can add rod holders above it.
