Default My Last ever trip to catch a fish ........

in 2017 that is ..... ....Happy New Year to everyone and yes its pretty chilly here in Texas right now . But I had to make the Sunday morning early run to the ole crappie house New Years Eve . Fish were somewhat spotty and not in huge numbers ,but I managed a fair number vertical jigging in about 12 foot of water . Weather was beginning to get ugly when I went about 6 am and was in ice over mode when I left about 10 am . About 6 of us hung around in the ole crappie barge and yanked a few specimens .
Most all bites came with a no movement presentation about a foot off the bottom and it sure is fun to see folks like myself all day dreaming and in total they aint biting mode when one SLAMS the fire out of a the jig ! the surprised look on some faces is just to hilarious coupled with the many many missed hook sets because you are so not ready .
Some language sometimes in a men only environment on the missed hits and I did managed to get my line broke twice and to be sure it isn't for the non patient types . Brought my yeti with some coffee and a cream cheese empanada and pocket full of jigs . Natural colors work best it seems to me and most drop tandem set ups . Gave my keepers to a guy that has a wife that mans the ranger station at another lake I visit about once a week .
The fish ran about legal to 12 or 13 inches with about 1/3 of them being well unders in the mix .
Slip sided home after I let my window defrost and had a pretty good time .
stay tuned yawl and for sure HAPPY NEW YEAR to all
