I kicked my Terova up a few notches into "10". Really wasn't going far, maybe 200 yards total while on "10".
I had just made some minor direction corrections and about 3 seconds after I let go of my remote, the darn thing takes a sharp right, right towards the sea wall at the back of my property! Holy Cow!
I do have the foot pedal always plugged in (in case my remotes battery dies, which it should not have because the battery was just replaced recently). But the foot pedal was on it's side leaning against the the gunnel. And no, it's face was not touching anything. Plus, the Terova was not on Auto Pilot. So I have no idea why this happened.
So there I go, heading straight towards the sea wall with remote not responding. I moved quick as I probably ever have. I grabbed the head of the Terova, and picked the whole thing up and out of the water, but I still hit the sea wall and broke the transducer off the bottom. I still have to go out and look closer (in the day light) to see if the housing or shaft has any damage.
This thing had a mind of it's own. It was possessed! Just turned right while running at top speed, crashing into sea wall! Unreal.
Ever happened to anyone else?

I have had my v2 Ipilot go wacko a couple of times and had to even unplug it once then plug it back in to get it straightened out. I am thinking the gps goes wacko for some reason on its own is the only thing I can figure out. You have to react fast when it does happen to keep from snapping wires or tearing things up. It’s only happened a couple of times on me. I also get a rush when the battery goes dead in your. Remote and the trolling motor keeps on running while you quickly change the battery out or you have to unplug the trolling motor and shut down as I don’t have the foot control to rely on for control. I keep a couple of batteries in different places on the boat to quickly grab and change out as well.

I'm like cevans, I think it's in GPS. This is just my opinion but I think when you put it on 10 it causes a voltage drop on the control boards, then GPS goes brain dead and it will take off. Mine has done that a couple of times and unplug and plug back in solves it. It's hard not to panic when it happens though. Hopefully you didn't damage anything else.
I have even paid attention, looking around and scoping my surroundings around me, thinking maybe some kind of electrical interference was affecting the gps, but to no avail in figuring out the sudden behaviors as to why the trolling motor would go wacko. It’s only happened a couple of times, as I primarily fish longlineing jigs or cranks and occasionally jig fish stationary. I also wonder, on the front of my boat, having 2 depth finders running, sometimes iPhone is super close by as well as sometimes a iPad, is there a problem with too much electrical interference in a 3-4 ft dia. area maybe causing this? I don’t know myself.

No, I have not had that problem and hope I do not!! Sorry for you.
I hear y'all about the GPS freaking out. And I've had it freak out while going under a bridge and such, but the auto pilot was off. I guess I could see the low voltage making it freak out somehow. hmmmm
Also, stupid me. Now that I look back at what happened. Heck, I picked up the motor head. I coulda just turned it back to open water. Instead I tried to pick it up and out of way and catch the sea wall. oh well. I just checked, and at least it's only the transducer that broke. Oh well, I think I'll just cut that ducer off, don't use it anyway.
I've had it happen to me as well. The remotes are also prone to going haywire. If memory serves me, the reset procedures for the remote is to put the battery in upside down and then press a few buttons.

I have 2 remotes and every ice out when I first get out to fish, I change out the batteries whether they need it or not just to start the fishing season out as well.
