Douglas Lake December 16th Results
Well December on Douglas is usually what I relate to as the 4th of July for Crappie fishing. What I mean by that is you know how on the 4th you go to a local spot and cram in with 1000 of people to watch fireworks. Well Douglas is usually just that. You go to your favorite creek and cram in with 100 other boats in hopes to catch your limit for the day. Well on this particular day there were very few boats on the lake and there was not much enthusiasm. The lake temps were 38 degrees down 11 degrees from the previous week. The water had also dropped 3 feet from the previous week. These two things combined with the 28 degree temps the morning of the tournament surely kept some anglers away and at the house in the warmth. Congrats to Scott Bunch and Neil (Papaw) Alvis who pulled out the win in the tough conditions with 7.93 Lbs. They spider riged live bait in 20 to 25 ft of water looking for points and underwater selfs. Pulling in right behind them in 2nd place was Mike Willard with an impressive finish of 6.99 Lbs and the winner of the big fish prize with a 1.92 Lbs Slab. Mike was also spider rigging but he was fishing 10 to 15 ft of water with self tied flies and crappie magnets. Congrats guys and way to go. Our next tournament will be held on Watts Bar Lake on January the 20th. Cant wait to see everyone there. For full results see last photo of the leader board.
