I filmed this a couple weeks ago. The most frustrating times of the year are periods between open water in ice. Let me know if you have ever punched through ice to launch a boat.

I have slid to the water line a couple of times when launching, a nervous time. Busted Ice on one trip mid lake, and won't do that again anytime soon.

Many times I've busted through ice to get to open water. Not uncommon around IN.

Winterize? We don't know what that means. Busted ice more than I can count. Also carry kitty litter and sand for the ramps when it is below freezing.

I think early spring next year I will have to remember to bring sand.

Yes, I've broke ice before backing in and it broke my transducer mount,I've also powered slowly through ice,it scratched the paint up on the bottom of my aluminum boat.

Years ago (when we were a lot younger), we use to break ice in March to get to open water. Not so much these days!
