I want to be able to hit the thumb-bar on my Shakespeare reels without thinking about it to let out line in case I have to swing a fish into the boat or drag it to the net.
Do you fish with reels facing up or down?

Up .... as I see no purpose in having a baitcast reel hanging upside down & having to not only lift the rod out of the holder, but also turn the rod over, in the process, in order to have the reel in the correct position for cranking in the line. Just seems to add a factor of difficulty & cumbersomeness to what should be a straight forward & simple act.
