    trying to figure out what I can make that would make it easy and quick to remove this rod holder when I want to move without having to fumble around with unscrewing it or taking the nut off the top to be able to raise the trolling motor?
    i know some of you inventer tinkers can help me figure something out

    You can always just loosen up the collar on the shaft and raise the trolling motor out of the water and re-tighten the collar...

    It seems to me from the pix that the TM could rotated inboard just enough to actually miss the rod holder ...
