Sounds and looks like some good times.I put my boat away this past weekend as well, that's always a bummer.
Hello All,
Been absent from the site for about a month now. Been kinda busy.
Veterans Weekend started out great. Meet up with a few Marine Corp buddies on Veterans Day for food, fishing, and catching up on our lives. While we may not speak to each other for years, we picked up right where we left off.
We meet in El Paso fro some breakfast at Woody's restaurant. Great food and service.
We got on the water about 8am and fished most of the day. Kept 29 Crappie, oddly enough that was our unit, 2/9. Ate Sloppy Does for lunch (heated on the grill on the pontoon boat).
Tried out the Slab picture taking method. lol
Got off the lake and managed to get the fish cleaned before dark. Got back to the hotel, put the fish on ice, changed clothes and headed out to dinner and the VFW for after dinner refreshments. Had a great time and meet some new friends, some former military, most not. I can honestly say I never had an empty beer bottle all night long. Just like old times. lol
2 weeks ago was opening deer shotgun season and I found myself in deer camp.
Managed to take a 6 pointer home from my ground blind.
Last weekend was family time. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house again on Thursday. 19 guests and 7 dogs. Friday was spent storing the harvest decorations and preparing the house for Christmas. The kids/grandkids all showed up to help. Even managed to make the wife a new Charles Dickens Christmas Village stand between hunting and Thanksgiving.
Saturday was spent in the yard, mulching leaves, taking the garden out, putting the garden fencing up, storing the patio furniture, and putting the boat up for the winter. Hated the last part. However between now and Christmas I have 3 Thomas the Train toy boxes to build and maybe a sewing table for the wife?
Hope you all had a great Veterans Day and Thanksgiving!

Great post. The wife liked that ladder idea. I’ve got buddies too that no matter the length of time between visits we just pick up where we left off. Glad you had good times.

As Marines, we can be away for decades, meet up, and never skip a beat. A brotherhood like no other. Hard for outsiders to understand. Fortunately, I do!
Great way to catch us all back up on your life.
