I am going to "remodel" my fishing tool supply. What do you guys prefer to measure your fish with?

I like to use the same thing the CO's use ... a Gator Grip Golden Rule measuring board. (Though I also carry a Frabil E-Z Checker)

Crappiepappy, I have used the golden rule for about 15 years or so. Very good tool.

Not to beat on the checker, but I found a difference in the length represented. What the checker said was 10" was 1/8 " shy and could have caused a problem. This was an older unit made many years ago, but I have no issues with my Golden Rule and swear by it's readings.

E-Z checker and gator grip golden ruler.

I also picked-up a stick-on ruler years ago I applied inside the hull up front near the seat for a quick check.

I have a quick check method also. I put small zip ties on the rod at 9 & 10 inches from reel seat. As I swing them in the boat I hold them up to the rod.

The golden rule is what I use! Same as the game warden! That way there is no guess work involved

Golden rule for me. Make sure you have 1/4" extra for shrinking.

I must admit that I'm surprised. After all these years the golden rule is still the device of choice. Just proves that time or technology can't beat perfection.
