Default Crappie Are Getting Ready For Crappie Camp - ARE YOU?

Most of what we caught today was by pitching 1/32-ounce jigs over shallow cover near spawning areas and we also caught quite a few in 2 to 3-feet of water near the banks.

The big one in the middle was 17.25-inches long and weighed 2-pounds, 4-ounces. Yes, it is going "ON THE WALL".

We had about a dozen that were 14.5 to 15-inches and the stringer of 42 weighed right at 42-pounds so they averaged 1-pound each. Ended up with 14.5-pounds of fillets (without the big one of course), which pretty well filled two gallon size Ziplock bags.

The forecast was for a good chance of scattered thundershowers but the worst we had was a short light shower or two and some drizzle and we only saw three other boats on the lake.

Nice catch. What a fish!!! I've got a place picked out on my wall when the Lord shines on me like that.

    Hey David:

Come on down! By this weekend there will be one or two big crappie by every stump you can find in at least 2-feet of water unless the weather cools down and there's no major cooldown in site - http://www.weather.com/outlook/recre...s/tenday/71964

    Hey Dale:

I just tell them I won't clean their fish if they don't smile for their picture. Two of my crew are from Minnesota and the other one is from Iowa so they have been loving our spring weather and our big crappie.
