I found some old NON PAINTED jig heads and they are covered with white oxidation. Any thoughts on how to clean them back to raw lead head condition? Or just use as-is, i'm not sure if the water will clean it off.

Thanks

I use mine "as is" (oxidation present) and haven't seen any difference in bite ratio. BUT, if you "absolutely have to" have the oxidation off, soak them in white vinegar.

I agree. The jig head is just the vehicle that takes the bait - plastic or live - to the fish. Use them as is.

I just love crappie.com. I learn something new every day. I had wondered about this lead oxidation problem myself. :scratchheadThanks for asking the questions and thanks for the answers. :highfive

I have found that heating the jig heads and powder painting them makes them look new. I think the heat gets rid of the oxidation. Pop

According to the state of California those jigs may cause cancer. You should send them all to me for proper disposal.
