Usually 6lb because I can bend the hooks when I get hung instead of breaking.
Which weight line do you prefer to use when crappie fishing, 4 lb. or 6 lb. test and why ?
-Thanks
Usually 6lb because I can bend the hooks when I get hung instead of breaking.
6# for me. Have a lot of White Perch (sandpaper lips) and they will chafe 4# in a hurry just above the knot. Didn't notice any difference in the catch. I use Mr Crappie camo.
Harry, a guide out of bay springs - weiss told me 4 for shooting docks 6 for trolling....
I use 4lb for casting & shooting. i use 6-8 for trolling or drifting.
I use 8 pound for trolling and tightlining because there are alot of Thugs where I fish that can easily go 5 to 10 pounds. However, the beneift of 4 pound when shooting jigs is unmatched for distance.........
4# Triline for night stalking.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
I vote for 4#.
Most 4# line sold in the US is around .20mm in diameter and breaks at around 6# of pressure. That's plenty strong enough for me.
I agree with the above i fish around a lot of cover and being able to bend the hook saves alot of jigs..Originally Posted by crappieseeker
I use 4lb..... I find that when I use 6lb with very small jigs and casting the heavy line will not let the jig fall thru the water and still give a good feel.
