Sometimes it happens that way and sometimes it is the other way around.
I recently took my friend Brandon fishing with me. He used live minnows while I single pole jigged. I would trolling motor around looking for crappie on the graph when I found them I would jig right down on them. Surprisingly the jig out performed the minnows. I couldn’t believe it lol!
Sometimes it happens that way and sometimes it is the other way around.
Right now I been tipping jigs with minners using 1/8 jig heads and 3/4 oz weight on 14 ft BnM pst rods out the front and pulling jigs out the back with 1/8 jig heads with a 1/32 split shot about 18 inches up the line with 6 lb test line. Been catching a lot of fish the past 4 wks with water temps between 62 and 59 degrees.
And just when you think you have them figured out, they change, lol!

have been fishing docks and doing diddly, when someone coming off the water gives me their leftover minnows and when I used them crappie hit immediately and nice size. other times jigs are just killing them, so you have to find what works that day. good video.
during crappie university when you ask all the pro's doing it, they all say people pay them to catch fish so they use minnows all the time. sometimes jigs tipped with, which is my personal favorite.
i use only jigs 95% of the time these days.
