So I’m thinking of trying my hand at spider rigging and I was wondering if there was any necessity to have the same length rods for pushing out the front. Being a long-liner, I do have quite a few longer rods that I can use, but as I’m just trying this out, I was hoping to not have to buy another set of rods at first as I don’t have enough of any one size since I stagger my rods (and in case I don’t stick with it - God knows I already have enough rods for 10 or 12 people). I’ve done quite a bit of reading into spider rigging and am familiar with set-ups, rod lengths, etc and I can’t find any reason I couldn’t use different lengths (I.e. 12’s and 14’s), but I thought I’d ask the experts out there in case there’s something I’m missing. Thanks!

I have used 8,10 and 12's mixed with good results. No reason to buy more rods.

Seems I haven’t had a shortage of excuses. Problem is I’m running out of space.
