Does anyone on crappie.com use a kayak for fishing?

No but I'd like to. Do you? I've seen some of those nice ones with the built in rod holders and they look like a good time. I just can't see spending @ 1K for an outback mirage. Might as well get a johnboat and TM for that.

I'm trying to decide between a kayak and one of those one man pontoons right now. I like that the kayak is closer to the water and more narrow, but I think the pontoons are more comfortable/convenient. Around here, you can get a good kayak for about $200 less than the pontoon. I just want something I can take up rivers and creeks.

Yea 1K is alot. My situation is I cant pull a boat and I'd like to put it on the roof of my car. I also like to fish some places where a boat wont go. I'm not Kayak fishing yet but I plan to be. I need to save up some $$, by then I hope to know which one I want. I'll be testing out some different models also.

both of those look nice. If I had $800 i'd still probably get a used jon and new TM. I have a minivan to haul it in/on and reckon I could get it tuned to add a hitch and tow a small jon. Those are pretty nifty though and they'd definitely be more versatile than a jon for certain river applications and pond uses. Very portable and less scrathworthy on a vehicle's finish.

I've done a bit of yak fishing and I really like it. You can access water you can't with anything else plus its nice and peaceful and a little exercise to boot. I've been looking around for the ideal kayak and ran across native watercraft. Its a hybrid between a canoe and a sit on top. You can actually stand in it. I want one.

Yeah, you can catch fish but I don't think you can at the same level as in a larger boat. There is alot of other advantages to having a kayak. I bought mine to catch some fish, get alot of exercise, and to enjoy nature. Also sense you are the motor, in my state you do not have to buy tags for it. I am new to this and will be looking forward to kayaking this year.
