the "custom" and the "Sam Heaton" are both very good jigging rods . I net all my fish . The only negative thing I have ever heard about them that you will not want to swing them in the boat . I have had some for 8-10 yrs .

Yes, very good and dependable. As Eagle 1 already said there are several models. Go to a big box supply house and get the one that has the right feel for you. Depending on the conditions you are fishing, you may want to experiment with different rod lengths also.

I have two 10' rods : Sam Heaton Signature Series and a Huckabee Signature Dippin rod. I wouldn't hesitate to lift a 2lb fish over the side with either one. I even use these rods to Push jigs with 1.5oz weights.

Just be sure whatever rod you get, that you get a reel that will balance the outfit. Too light of a reel and the outfit will be tip heavy and wear your wrist/forearm out in short order ... too heavy a reel and the outfit will be butt heavy and will feel heavier in your hand and be a little uncomfortable to fish with for long periods. If you put the reel on the rod and lay it across an outstretched finger, right at the very front end of the handle, and it balances ... the outfit will be much more of a pleasure to use. I consider it to "balance" as long as the rod doesn't "drop like a rock" towards either end. A slow dip towards the tip or butt is OK.

I have 2 of the B&M west point rods they work just fine for me. Buy you a good net also and learn to depend on it for landing fish. Remember fishermen break rods fish don't.
Be safe and good luck fishing

I use the BnM 10 ultralight with bottom reel seat and the tiny lil BnM ultralight jig reel and love the combination.

10' Uncle Bucks Ultralight with bottom reel seat for me. Works great, with a small reel.
